« The argument goes something like this: Apple ultimately controls the content available on the App Store therefor the App Store is evil.
That’s not the argument. Most people don’t care that Apple controls the App Store. The actual problems with the App Store are:
- Apple’s rules are essentially random (i.e. not based on the quality or value of the app in question, but on things like whether Apple thinks the app “duplicates functionality”) and unpublished. Great apps don’t get into the store, and developers can’t even get pre-approval.
- The App Store is the only way of getting native apps on the iPhone.
