I think calling anything that happened on Lost “deliberate” is giving these people way too much credit. You’re not deliberately misdirecting people when you yourself don’t know where the hell you’re going; you’re just full of crap. They made shit up as they went along, and when they were unable to finish the show properly, they slapped their viewers over the head with a deus ex machina. It’s insulting to the viewers; it’s like telling them “sorry you spent the last seven years of your lives thinking about the mysteries in this show and talking about possible solutions with your friends. Psych, they actually don’t make any sense. But thanks for your money, asshole.” Can’t say it was entirely unexpected, though, I stopped watching around season four. I also stopped watching Battlestar Galactica during the last season when it became painfully obvious that the writers not only had no direction, but also had no ultimate goal or resolutions for the show.
